In the state of Mississippi, the courts of general jurisdiction are the circuit courts. Box 549, Port Gibson, MS., 39150. Claiborne County is in the Twenty-Second Mississippi Circuit Court District.

The greatest resource for information on arrest warrants in Claiborne County is likely to be the county sheriff’s office. However, in 2012, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office debuted a new website. On the site, http://claibornecountysheriff.org/, a great deal of helpful information is posted for use by the people of Claiborne County. The site reports on what they are working on and other matters of interest. A list of area sex offenders is a part of the webpage. As with many county agencies that create an online presence, it is obvious the Claiborne County sheriff hopes to get information from the public that will assist them in making arrests.

Other items linked with or contained within the site include:

    • Press releases

    • Sheriff’s messages

    • Descriptions of the different divisions within the sheriff’s office

    • A process for reporting information on crimes

Sheriffs have historically been responsible for bringing in the “Most Wanted” criminals. To promote the apprehension of criminals, the Claiborne County sheriff includes a list of the most wanted individuals on its website, along with pictures and descriptions of those people. As with many law enforcement agencies, the public’s use of information is key in apprehending the most wanted individual. It can also help the sheriff find and make arrests of individuals with outstanding warrants. Before accessing the information on the warrants page, however, users must read and accept a disclaimer about the accuracy and use of the information provided. Users then may search by name and date. However, nothing seems listed, but perhaps that will be updated in the near future.

The Claiborne County sheriff’s website also has a link for warrants. To get to the warrants page, from the site’s main page, under “Services,” click “Warrants.” There is nothing listed here, but this may be addressed in the future so that information on active warrants in Claiborne County may be more readily available. Until then, warrant searches and arrest records inquiries should be made by telephone or through the sheriff’s email system.
